The Cowichan River is producing good to excellent trout fishing for fly anglers. Some days an fisher will see only a few other anglers, but there are days when the water will be full of hopeful participants. Rainbows are still a little dark from the spring spawn, but they are full of energy. A 4 or 5 weight rod will give you plenty of action. #14 Elk Hair Caddis waked will produce some dry fly action.

Our spring Steelhead season has come to a close and the Chinook Salmon are trickling in, and are they ever fresh. So fresh as the attached pics of the Doc from Bakersfield, CA has a sea-liced bullet in his very happy grasps, not to mention a nice Steelhead that day as well, all on the Spey.
